The main purpose of the fund is to support the non-academic personnel who have been part of the law school journey of all UP law students, says UP Law 2000 Inc. president Dan Calica.
Newly-designated UP Law dean Gwen Grecia-De Vera says the initiative is timely, given the mounting financial needs of non-academic personnel especially during emergencies.
The fund is intended to be used for family emergencies, particularly serious illnesses or injuries, and untimely loss that may affect employees or their immediate family.
Solicitor-General Darlene Marie Berberabe, former UP Law Dean and president of UP Law Class of 1999 that started the Damayan Fund, hopes that the initiative will be continued by future UP Law silver jubilarians and alumni.

In her moving closing remarks, UP Law 2000 vice president and professor Chrysilla Carissa Bautista narrates how non-academic personnel extended invaluable support to her late father, to her, as well as to all UP Law students.
UP Law 2000 Inc. says it will continue to receive donations for the Y2K Damayan Fund. Contact Dan Calica at 0918-9021169 or Chrysilla Bautista at 0917-8912738. /dda
